Classes

Upcoming workshops and classes:

November 8th, Thursday, 6:30-8:30 PM: Our subject will be a yellow rose. Explore layering and burnishing colored pencil technique.

You have a choice of drawing the initial drawing freehand or starting with a template if you are uncomfortable or wish to get right to the colored pencils. No fear, just encouraging teaching at your level.

$20 per person with materials provided by Bloom.

November 10th, Saturday, 1:00-3:00 PM: I will be presenting a colored pencil workshop with Warren Count ARTS. Our subject will be an apple. While our mind may simply see a "red apple", we will be exploring the varied nuances of color that are there. In addition, we will discover how to draw realistically by capturing light, hue, and shading.

Participants can draw the initial outline drawing freehand, templates will be provided if you would like to get right to the colored pencils or do not feel confident drawing. The workshop is designed so that anyone at any experience level can have fun.

Requirements (please bring this with you):

Stiff paper such as Vellum, Bristol board, Strathmore Mixed Media, or water color paper (any paper that is stiff or heavy, not simple drawing paper). A conventional #2 pencil.

Artist grade colored pencils:  Such as Prismacolor, Derwent Artists (not Derwent Studio), Blick Studio Artists' Colored Pencils, Caran d’Ache Luminance, etc. Prismacolor is the easiest to get and least expensive overall). Shopping online with Dick Blick or Cheap Joe's will get a good deal, avoid buying individual pencils at an art store, much more expensive. Please avoid student grade pencils or any other type of pencils like watercolor or pastel. Among the colors needed: reds, scarlet, orange, greens, light grays, browns, sienna, "ginger root" (Prismacolor) or tans, burnt umber, cream, white. Try to get the best overall you can with these, the white artist grade is a must have. Any questions can be directed to my email.
